The Challenge
As Louisiana grappled with COVID-19, demand for meals increased. At the same time, food banks experienced a drop in retail donations along with declining volunteer numbers. Feeding America partnered with Zehnder and Louisiana’s five food banks to implement a statewide grass-roots campaign that would bring attention and urgency to hunger issues in the state.

The Strategy
During the first month of quarantine, Zehnder collaborated with California Artists Agency to reach out to celebrities with Louisiana roots. Everyone from country music star Hunter Hayes to actor Tyler Perry participated in the “Feed Louisiana Love” campaign through live Facebook videos, social posts, and personal monetary donations.
To bolster the effort, Zehnder launched a custom campaign microsite in 10 days to receive donations and created a real-time dashboard to monitor success. To keep the buzz going, we also developed a compilation video highlighting celebrity testimonials sharing the importance of the initiative.
